Robert P. Minnick – Founder & CEO
Mr. Robert P. Minnick (RPM) has more than 35 years of senior experience and expertise as an entrepreneur building, advising and investing in various types of companies, with a successful history of launching early B2C & B2B firms. Having founded the company in 2009, Mr. Minnick currently serves as the CEO of RPM Group Ltd., an investment advisory and management consultancy firm with several motorcar related clients; these clients include Rx Speed, a B2C internet based engine for aftermarket auto products, and Classic Auto Funds Ltd., one of the earliest classic car investment funds.
In 1997 Robert founded M Group Inc., an early stage venture capital firm, and headed the company until 2008. Best Quote was a core position and a B2C portfolio company that provided proprietary software to consumers to compare motorcycle insurance rates online. Later renamed Riderpoint, M Group transformed the company into a nation-wide, internet based agency, with a division of Progressive Insurance later adopting the rate comparison software; the company was sold to Cordia Corp in 2001. Other exit sales include C-Path Solutions, Inc., a firm that provides strategic venture consulting for middle market firms.
In 1992 Robert founded H&M Management, Inc, where he developed a credit card and associated financial programs for U.S. banks and insurance companies within the motor vehicle vertical, and in parallel, launched two portfolio companies: WPI Dealer Services and ICM Inc. WPI Dealer services, a subsidiary of H&M, provided out-sourced (F&I) programs to over 800 motorcycle dealers and created the first industry extended service contract program, which allowed dealers to derive revenue from the initial contract and participate in overall program revenue. ICM Inc., another subsidiary, launched a series of affinity credit card programs in collaboration with MBNA, including the first ‘Rider Card’ Program for motorcycles, watercraft and snowmobiles. H&M Group was sold to Gramercy Insurance Co. in 1997.
Founded by Robert in 1985, Mr. Minnick headed ComponentGuard, a U.S. third party administrator for consumer electronics’ extended service contracts, until 1992. This innovation essentially turned service contracts into a sellable product and significantly increased warranty sales. ComponentGuard created the Double Warranty Program for American Express, one of the first enhancement programs for the credit card industry; these programs set the stage for other credit card add-on programs and helped lay the groundwork for that business sector. Robert also initiated and oversaw all private equity & venture capital relationships while taking ComponentGuard public in 1987.
From 1981 to 1985, Robert began his career at Chrysler Military Sales, a division of Chrysler Corp, as SVP of Special Programs in Frankfurt, Germany. Robert was responsible for logistics and worldwide sales within the Army Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES) Network. Mr. Minnick was the first head of the Finance and Insurance Division and was responsible for dealers located on military bases throughout Europe and Japan. He later integrated the U.S. Service Network with the overseas AAFES network, creating a global service contract network. This integration resulted in the growth of the program to $21M revenue over three years.
Robert graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration from Northeastern University. He currently lives with his wife in Greenwich, Connecticut and is an avid motorcar enthusiast and collector.
